The feminine urge
Not a perfect one,
But I'm thankful I'm born a woman.
I'm thankful to my culture.
The turmeric paste all over,
the weekly hair wash rituals
With rosemary and coconut oil
Sambrani on wet hair
A full body cleansing.
One of my favourite books
On Indian mythology -
Specifically mahabharata,
With kathakali music playing mellow
Is love on a platter,
Love to no one, but oneself,
To the feminine.
To draw the eyes with the darkest kajal
Adorn the feet with padasaram with gold manikal
A small white heart on the chest,
Reddest of lipsticks, maskara
A gentle glide of a shimmery blush
Kuppivalakal,
A red sleeveless blouse with sweetheart neck,
A black saree with black pottu
Block heels of nude colour
Jasmine flowers circle around the hairbun,
A clutch, nude preferably,
And to be surrounded by
the serenity of the divine.
That too with your favourite person (or dog).
Or one of the top 5
(Ponnu, Minny, Kitty, Bubly, Pil mil)
That's an ideal cleansing for my mind and body.
