LAURELS FOR LIFE.

Life is powerful.
In it is incorporated moments in time,
That has the power to alter your entire reality.

This blog is about laurels.
The ones that we gain with effort and time
And the ones that we meet in life.
Like unexpected moments of grace
That hold you up while your legs
are about to give up.

Laurel no 1.
(A generous mentor's token of appreciation
and blessings.)
Today my professor gave me a token of appreciation for my writing..
And I am keeping it for life.
A shiver, a little cry from deep inside me
Thank goodness my eyes didn't betray me.
That very moment added so much worth and courage into me that I'm feeling proud about myself. (I haven't felt that in years).
Such is the power of a professor/teacher
They can reignite the smothering flames in us..
They can encourage, appreciate and make us trust our self.
(I can't find words)
I just couldn't help but call Kitty, Minny and Amma and tell them about it right away..
My mother said she is proud of me.
I let my eyes water then.
(SR Sir..I owe a lot to you)

Laurel no 2.
(The art of failing miserably and still feeling great about it.)
At 2 pm, I represented my department
in women's badminton singles
I was fortunate enough to get a professional against me that I literally felt like I'm a rock covered with green mosses in the middle of a cascading river.
(I couldn't move..maybe I felt a bit sad)
She placed the cork right to my face and wherever I couldn't reach..such was the calculation.
I realised how bad I am at this thing which I was partially, surreptitiously elated about.
But I bragged about losing 3 to 15
in the match to everyone in there..
and they didn't seem to look down at me.
That's the truth.
They didn't really care if I did well in badminton..
They were not so critical about me as I myself was.
Today I took it easy (on myself)

Laurel no 3.
(Extroverts are so fun)
I don't know what "vert" I am
But I know that I love spending time with people who loves to talk.
It's amazing how they find different things to talk about and their curiosity about us is just so pure.
Today when I talked with J, he made me realise that my life is quite exciting.
A few things about future that I've been contemplating for months...
He literally gave me a precise and distinct answer
Within the few hours we spent talking
Gosh!! Such an overthinker I am.

Laurel no 4.
(It's okay to be kind, you just don't have to be proud of it.)
A fellow being that doesn't have a lot of materialistic wealth is never less than us..
In fact the ones that can smile through it are the best people to keep with us.
That young boy will come out to be a great man..his smile tells me that.
I know a few such people..
Vibrant, non-chalant... Maybe they believe in life.
(More than we do)
The happiness with which he drove the bicycle back home..
Cherishing his badminton games..
Enjoying the beautiful sunset..
He made me look around myself too
Anandapuram is beautiful.

As Diya said in the movie Aanandam
The world would be less chaotic if we all calmed ourselves down and learned to enjoy the sunrise and sunset once a while.
